blogforamerica feed

Back in 2003/2004, a lot of people were reading Blog for America on LJ through the syndicated feed deanforamerica, which got an RSS feed from blog.deanforamerica.com. When DFA 2 shut down all the stuff at the old deanforamerica.com domain and moved the blog, they never updated the RSS feed there, and didn't even post anything saying that URL was going to stop working. So if you were reading the blog on LJ, it just stopped appearing on your friends page, and you might have thought it'd be fixed soon and then forgot about it.

There is an LJ feed from blogforamerica.com, d4a. It currently has only 6 readers (I'm one of them :), so I figure hardly anyone knows about it. Add it to your friends page and read blogforamerica on LJ.

Recommend Ned Lamont for the DFA-List

Ned Lamont is running in the Connecticut Democratic primary for US Senate, against Joe Lieberman. If he wins, he'll be the Democratic nominee and almost certainly the next US Senator from CT.

Ned Lamont has applied for DFA's endorsement, and whether he gets it depends partly on local DFA groups in CT, and partly on how many DFA supporters online recommend him through the web site. So read about Ned Lamont. Watch the video Robert Greenwald made for his campaign. See his new TV ads featuring blog star Markos (of dailykos). And recommend him to DFA!

The Connecticut primary is August 8th. I posted about it on my LJ yesterday.

DSCC & DCCC heads unhappy with 50 state strategy

Election strategy splits Democrats:
Howard Dean was elected chairman of the Democratic National Committee on a promise: To send millions of dollars in contributions to build up state Democratic parties, even in states that vote solidly Republican. Fifteen months after taking office, he has done precisely that.

But the policy that has come to define his tenure to date - while delighting state Democratic chairmen - has embroiled him in a battle with the two congressional Democrats leading the effort to retake Congress.
That's Chuck Schumer of the DSCC, and Rahm Emmanuel of the DCCC (who recently went to herculean efforts to find a candidate to defeat Dean Dozen & DFA-List congressional candidate Christine Cegelis). Both of them still seem to be into targeting the few most winnable races and the few closest swings states, and ignoring everything else.

Help ActBlue set up in more states

ActBlue is a company set up by a couple of Deanies, that allows any organization or individual to do MoveOn-style online fundraising. It's a great tool for progressives and bloggers, and since their launch in 2004, has been used to raise over $2 million for Democratic candidates (including over $500,000 for Paul Hackett). They are now raising money to set up legally to do fundraising for candidates in 5 new states. I posted in more detail here on Blue Mass Group. Read my post, and if you have even just $10 to spare towards your favorie state, donate!

PATRIOT Act expansion vote - call Congress

Once again, the White House and Republican leaders pulled a last minute bait and switch on the PATRIOT Act - just like when it was originally passed. Bills from the House and Senate went into conference committee this fall - the Senate version including some important compromises - and suddenly this week, a new White House version came out, lacking compromises and actually expanding the PATRIOT Act. A vote is expected this week, and it doesn't seem to have happened yet, but that means it could be today.

I posted a diary on dailykos with details and links.

Please call your Congresscritters about it now - the vote is expected today

Also, if you have a dailykos account, please recommend my diary so more people will see it.
